Our Mission

At Nazaree, our mission is to provide high quality, developmentally appropriate childcare for
infants and preschool-aged children. Our priority is to focus on each individual child’s age and
ability to stimulate a safe, nurturing, and spiritually enriching environment where young children
can grow in faith, love, and learning. Rooted in Christian values, we are committed to guiding
each child in their early development—emotionally, socially, intellectually, and spiritually—through
age-appropriate education, play, and prayer. We partner with families and community resources
to build a strong foundation of faith and character, preparing children to shine God's light in the
world.

Our Philosophy

Nazaree’s philosophy for each day is rooted in the belief that every child is a unique creation of
God, wonderfully made and deeply loved. We strive to align our practices with both biblical truths
and recognized standards in early childhood education, ensuring that each child’s spiritual,
academic, social, and emotional development is nurtured with intentionality and care. Grounded
in Scripture, we embrace the calling to guide children in wisdom and understanding (Proverbs
22:6), laying a foundation of faith and character that will shape their futures.
Through developmentally appropriate activities, play-based learning, and meaningful interactions,
we encourage curiosity, creativity, and a sense of wonder about God’s world. Each day is
designed to cultivate essential skills, positive relationships, and a deep appreciation for God’s
continual presence in all aspects of life.

Our History

Nazaree Full Gospel Church Daycare, a cornerstone institution in its community, stands as a
testament to the power of faith-driven service and the profound impact of early childhood
education. Over the years, the daycare has not only supported working families and their children
but has also become a beacon of hope, nurturing, and learning. Its origins, development, and
continued success are intertwined with the vision and mission of Nazaree Full Gospel Church, an
assembly devoted to holistic ministry and generational uplift.
The roots of Nazaree Full Gospel Church Daycare can be traced back to the early initiatives of
Bishop Joseph D. Phillips—addressing not just spiritual needs, but also the social, educational, and economic well-being of the congregants and the surrounding community. The leadership
recognized that many families in the area, especially those with working parents or guardians,
required reliable, high-quality childcare that aligned with their values. This same vision is being
supported and implemented by the current pastor, Wesley D. Davis Jr.
Seeing the increasing necessity for safe, enriching environments for young children, the church’s
elders and community leaders began to discuss the idea of opening a daycare as early as the
21st century. Their vision was clear: to create a nurturing space where children could grow
spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually, setting a strong foundation for lifelong learning and faith.

Our Teachers

All Nazaree Teachers are required to meet the criteria as set forth by the Alabama Department of
Human Resources; however, many of our teachers have obtained certifications that exceed DHR
requirements. All regularly participate in ongoing training to enhance their skills, knowledge, and
understanding of Early Childhood education.

Our Program

NFGC Daycare curriculum is based on the knowledge that youth learn through active exploration
of their environment as well implementing and teaching biblical lessons. Our standards and
objectives derive from Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education, Nazaree Curriculum,
and Biblical Standards. The standards focus on four main components:

1. Relationships and Connections
2. Exploration and Critical Thinking (Math and Science)
3. Communication (Language and Literacy/Creative Arts)
4. Physical Development and Health

Alabama First Class PreK

NFGC Daycare now offers First Class PreK. Alabama’s high-quality, voluntary First Class Pre-K program provides effective, high-quality early childhood experiences that prepare four-year-olds
for school success and lifelong learning. First Class Pre-K is administered by the Alabama
Department of Early Childhood Education.

Alabama Quality STARS

Nazaree Full Gospel Church Daycare is a 4-STAR center. We provide a high-quality program that
goes above and beyond the DHR Performance Standards. What is Alabama Quality STARS?
Alabama’s QRIS (Quality Rating and Improvement System) is a partnership between the
Alabama Department of Human Resources and the Alabama Department of Early Childhood
Education. This system awards STAR levels to early childhood care and education programs that
meet a set of defined program standards which are comprised of standardized, research-based
criteria. By participating in this program, early care and education providers will embark on a path
of continuous quality and improvement. Alabama Quality STARS is committed to recognizing a
program’s strength while providing support to forge a path to continuous improvement. Programs
have to meet a minimum score requirement on both the Best Practice Rubric and CLASS
scoring model in order to meet different STAR levels.
